Every good leader understands the importance of a coach. A coach can guide us to develop core competencies. He/she not only ‘tell us why’ but ‘show us how’ by coming beside us. A coach ‘gets us started’ and ‘keeps us going’ by coaching. He/she can help us see our ‘blind
spots.’ A leader submitting to coaching learns humility and submission, both attributes of a servant-leader. ‘Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend’ – Proverbs 27:17.
